Community support is an important component of a successful festival and we thank all volunteers for their generous contribution.

Volunteer

Volunteering is a great way to become part of the festival family and share in the pride that comes with putting on a great event.

In return for a minimum of 8 hrs volunteering across the festival weekend, you will receive a Weekend Festival Pass, including a campsite.

The roles

  • Pre-festival promotion: Distribution of festival programs around your neighbourhood – getting the word out about the amazing program!

  • Welcome / Festival Entrance: You are the first point of contact for the festival. You will be located at the campground entrance. This is a customer service and hospitality role: you’re the friendly face of the festival as well as eyes and ears, so stay alert. All overnight campers will have tickets purchased in advance and your job is to check them off the list and hand out welcome packs including festival program, site map and wristbands. For customers including day-trippers without tickets, sales can be transacted at the Centre Office.

  • Parking: guiding customers into the dedicated parking areas.

  • Festival site set up (Wed-Fri) / pull down (Monday afternoon) crew: Includes physical work and logical thinking.

  • Site Decoration: Experience required. Creative eyes preferred.

  • Fire supervisors: monitor and keep fires fed with wood.

  • MC and Stage Managers: Experience required.

  • Electrical crew: Experience, relevant certification and insurances required. Set up in the days leading to the festival weekend. On call for electrical emergencies during the festival weekend.

  • Campground assistants: Directing campers to numbered sites, assisting with issues that arise – requires people skills and problem solving. NB. A significant portion of campers arrive on Thursday.

  • General site and vibe controllers: keeping the Camp Oven Festival site tidy and COVID-safe. Smiling at everyone.

  • Volunteer Hub / Info Tent Staff: To be on duty at the Info Tent to assist festival-goers with information and monitor Volunteer sign-on/off sheets.

  • Games and Competitions Assistants: working under supervision of the Games and Competitions Coordinator.

  • Kids tent/activities: Crafts & games. Working With Children Check required. Experience preferred.

  • People’s Choice: laying tables and serving food for People’s Choice guests judging the cooking competitions.

Volunteers are requested to read the Volunteer Agreement and to attend a pre-event orientation on the Thursday evening or Friday morning prior to the festival.
